Voice is becoming a commodity layer. Disclosure is the product.
Voice quality races to the bottom. Disclosure is the product.
TechCrunch published a Sep 24, 2026 interview with ElevenLabs CEO Mati Staniszewski. The company says it is pacing at about $600M ARR, with a reported valuation around $22B. Enterprise is 55%+. On disclosure, he favors telling people when the caller is a bot today, because buyers do not want to feel cheated. Treat that as a Grow-stage receipt, not a valuation story to chase.
Voice quality races to the bottom. Disclosure is the product buyers will pay to trust at Grow stage.
Why does voice commoditize for GTM?
Because every vendor can buy a better TTS stack next quarter.
ElevenLabs is already the voice layer many CX and GTM tools sit on. Competitors train on the same layer and ship their own. Staniszewski himself has said audio models move toward commodity over a few years. If your GTM pitch is "our voice sounds more human," you are renting a temporary delta.
Same pattern as mobile voice first touch: channel got prettier. Offer still has to carry the meeting.
What do buyers punish?
Silent bots.
The ElevenLabs CEO's line is plain: people are not used to agent callers yet, and they do not want to feel cheated. In five years, agent-to-agent may be normal. Today is not five years. Today, undisclosed agent dials and agent email that pretends to be a human burn trust in a Forrester-style ~84-day cycle you already struggle to shorten.
Same law as human disclosure for GTM agents. Say when an agent is speaking. Offer a human path. Log the handoff.
What beats prettier TTS at Grow?
Three rails.
- Disclosure by default. First sentence. No fake human. Choice when a human wait is long.
- Human handoff that works. Not a "press 0" that dumps to a black hole. A named path, a transcript, a CRM note.
- Outcome rails, not voice vanity. Meetings booked, show rate, pipeline that survives week two. Same pressure as outcome pricing for AI GTM tools: pay for what moved, not for how human the demo sounded.
Ehrenberg-Bass / LinkedIn B2B Institute: about 95% of buyers are not in-market. A beautiful voice blasting the out-of-market 95% is still spam with better prosody.
How does this show up in Grow?
Grow is where you scale spend and volume after Convert works.
If Convert still fails the grunt test, Grow multiplies the failure. Voice seats, minutes, and agent concurrency look cheap until domain reputation and buyer trust show the bill. Salesforce still puts about 27% of reps at quota. Scaling an undisclosed agent into the other 73% does not fix quota. It scales distrust.
I would rather ship a plainer voice with hard disclosure and a kill path than a demo-ready voice that books meetings the AE has to apologize for.
How do I pressure-test this week?
Audit ten agent voice or phone touches.
Ask: was the bot disclosed in the first sentence? Was a human path real? Did the purchase label show up before the pitch tour? Did any meeting require an apology for "our AI"?
If three of ten fail, freeze new voice volume. Fix disclosure and handoff. Then scale minutes.
Would you rather be known for the voice that fooled someone for thirty seconds, or the GTM system that disclosed, handed off, and still booked the meeting?
Adapt or fail. Voice is a layer. Trust is the product. Grow only when disclosure holds under volume.
FAQ
Should every GTM call disclose an agent today?
Yes, if an agent is speaking. Today buyers punish feeling cheated. Policy can shift later. Your rails should not wait for society to catch up.
Is buying a premium voice vendor enough for Grow?
No. Voice is table stakes. Disclosure, handoff, signal match, and outcome measurement decide whether volume compounds or burns.
How does this relate to outcome pricing?
If you cannot measure meetings and pipeline from agent voice, you are buying sound. Outcome pricing forces the receipt. Sound without receipt is theater.
How does this fit Signals, Convert, Grow?
Signals picks who is worth a call. Convert owns the message and disclosure. Grow scales only after those hold. Commodity voice without disclosure scales damage.
