Conversion is a system, not a button color

If your conversion rate is stuck, the answer is almost never the button. It's the gap between what the ad promised, what the landing page delivered, and what the product first showed.

The three-point handshake

Every converting funnel has three things in alignment:

  1. Ad promise — the specific outcome the ad implies.
  2. Page proof — visible, immediate evidence that the promise is real.
  3. First-run payoff — the user reaches that outcome in under 5 minutes inside the product.

Break any one and conversion collapses. Fix the right one and it compounds.

Where to look first

  • High CTR, low signup → page broke the promise.
  • High signup, low activation → product broke the promise.
  • High activation, low retention → the promise was the wrong promise.

You don't need a tool. You need to read your own ads, then sit through your own onboarding without skipping.
